Procedures - Tummy Tuck
(Abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin
and fat from the lower abdomen. It may also be used to
tighten loose abdominal muscles, especially when this
has not responded to diet or exercise. Most patients
seeking abdominoplasty are women who have had one
or more children and are looking to tighten and recontour
their waistline. Another group of individuals who may
consider abdominoplasty are those men and women who
have undergone significant weight loss, but have been left
with loose, hanging lower-abdominal skin.

The surgery, which may be combined with liposuction of
the upper abdomen or hips, involves an incision along the
lower abdomen, just above the pubic line. It often extends
from one hipbone to the other. The belly button (umbilicus)
is usually repositioned and has a second scar hidden within it.
The lower abdominal incision is designed to be concealed
beneath your undergarments. With these techniques the lower
abdomen is flattened and the waistline narrowed.
