Procedures - Face-Lift
(Rhytidectomy)

As people age, the skin and tissues of the face thin, wrinkle
and droop. This is noted mostly as deep creases folds and
jowls. These changes are normal but can be accelerated in
some individuals because of genetics, sun exposure and
smoking.

Face-lift surgery is performed under general anaesthetic in
the operating room. Incisions are placed in the hair of the
temple, around the skin creases of the ear and into the
hair behind the ear. The underlying tissues and fat are
repositioned and lifted while excess skin is removed and
redraped, to achieve a more youthful natural contour.

Face-lift is often combined with other facial procedures to
arrive at the patients individual goals (please see
Blepharoplasty
and Neck Lift).
