Procedures - Breast Implants
(Augmentation)

Breast Augmentation is a surgical procedure that aims to
improve the size shape and proportion of a woman’s breasts.
It can be used to increase the volume of breasts that a
woman finds too small, to fill out breasts that have
flattened after pregnancy or weight loss and to
balance breasts that are of different sizes
(asymmetrical).

The procedure is performed on an outpatient
basis, under general anaesthesia at one of
our fully accredited hospitals. Incisions can
be hidden underneath the breasts, around
the nipple (areola) or in the under arm
(axilla). The implants are placed in a
surgically created space underneath the
breast tissue (over the chest muscle) or
underneath the muscle and breast tissue.
Both saline and cohesive gel implants are
available.

Sometimes a combination of breast augmentation
and lift (mastopexy) is indicated (please see
mastopexy
).
